THE DUKE NEWS!! NO NEWS IS BAD NEWS!!

LET'S TWIST-THAT KNIFE-AGAIN...
by: Bunso

Games Domain Reviews has a new "article", in which they talk about the status of ID Software, and how
their days of FPS kings may be over, they use the Duke Nukem Forever engine change as proof that ID's
competition is not only catching up, but speeding past them. So, if you want to hear some interesting views
on this issue, be sure to check it out.

WATCH YOUR BACK
by: Bunso

Gamespot has a new article up, entitled "Watch your back". In it they look at the upcoming 3D shooters,
including Duke Nukem Forever and Prey, they also have a pre-engine change interview with George
Broussard. There isn't any new information in there, in fact the info that is there isn't too up to date either.
Still, drop by and read up a bit on the games we can expect to see in a not-so distant future.

SCOTT MILLER INTERVIEW
by: Bunso

The site LA Reviews has a new interview with Scott Miller up; where they ask him several questions
concerning Duke Nukem Forever. As expected Scott doesn't reveal any shocking news here, but for those
out there worried about Duke Nukem Forever being super-delayed by the engine switch, he does bring up an
interesting point. When asked the question about how much it will add to the development his answer was:

"Not more than 2-3 months. If we'd had stayed with the Quake 2 engine then we'd had wasted a lot of
time adding features to the engine that are already in the Unreal engine, so by going with Unreal we
can actually spend more time on the game itself. "

Of course, there is plenty more where that came from, so take a hop over to LA Reviews now and read the
rest.

AVAULT'S WORD ON THE ENGINE CHANGE
by: Bunso

I noticed over at 3D Realms' homepage that The Adrenaline Vault's David Laprad has written up an article, in
which he talks about the various issues that arise concerning the change from the Quake 2 engine to the
Unreal engine.

GOTTA LOVE THOSE E3 COMMENTS...
by: Evol

With this being an incredibly slow day (compared to the last few at least) I've decided to post something I
saw straight from Duke4.com. It's even more E3 inspired Duke Nukem Forever comments from the Voodoo
Review, which is from Voodooo Magazine, which were posted on Voodoo Extreme (try saying that 5 times
fast ;). They are very positive, and I'll just let you check them out right here from Voodoo Extreme.

LEE JACKSON .PLAN UPDATE
by: Sean Bugel

Lee Jackson, Music/Sound Director of 3D Realms, has updated his .plan and mentioned a little comment or
two for those of you that are inquiring about how the sound in Duke Nukem Forever will be effected by this
engine change. Here is a piece of his .plan, but you can read the entire .plan update here.

To those of you wondering how the switch to the Unreal engine will affect DNF's sound and music,
the answer is this: I don't know yet. We're exploring numerous alternatives that are now available to
us, both for the sound and the music end of things. Once we get something figured out, we'll most
likely announce it somewhere. Stay tuned. I think.

POLLS, POLLS, AND MORE POLLS...
by: Sean Bugel

It's hard to tell a new poll from an old one now, since almost every poll asks the same question, but anyway
OGR.COM has a new Quick Poll online that asks "Which 3D engine should 3D Realms' Duke Nukem
Forever use?" As of right now, Unreal seems to be everybody's choice, because its has pulled in 61% of
the votes so far. Lets show some support for the Unreal engine, Duke Forever is gonna rock with it! Vote
here.

TODAY'S DAILY DEMENTIA
by: Sean Bugel

START PRACTICING FOR DUKEED
by: Sean Bugel

To all those BUILD manics out there, and those interesting in making levels for Duke Nukem Forever, you
can start practicing NOW! Just go grab Unreal from your local EB or Software Boutique, and try UnrealED,
since Duke Forever is using the Unreal engine, the level designing program should be remarkably similar.
Skarz News has posted version 0.4 of the Unofficial UnrealED manual, so go check it out and start
practicing with UnrealED!

GEORGE BROUSSARD ON SHOOTERS ARCHIVE
by: Sean Bugel

For those unfortunate few that were not able to make last nights edition of "Shooters," you can check it out
now, as it is archived and online. George Broussard, president of 3D Realms, was on Shooters with talk
about the Duke Nukem Forever switching to Unreal engine situation. Check out the archive here.

GEORGE TALKS DUKE ON SHOOTERS, TONIGHT
by: Sean Bugel

Tonight on Shooters (the RealPlayer program formerly known as QuakeCast), Jack John from Monolith and
George Broussard from 3D Realms will talk about Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, and Duke Nukem Forever
respectively (and perhaps a little cross-over, as they ask John if it was George's houseboat he was referring
to in his .plan). The fun all begins tonight at 8:00 PM Eastern.

YET ANOTHER DNF PREVIEW
by: Bunso

A new preview of Duke Nukem Forever has popped up at Unrealized. This one is based on the impressions
of E3, but the writer has stuck to the actual game information, which is still the same; just with a new
engine under the hood. (thanks Jay of Meltdown.net)
